Middlebury College Team
The Middlebury College Equestrian Team makes its home at The Equestry
The Middlebury College Equestrians: since 1995.
Middlebury College Coach Kate Selby has years of experience both in coaching and riding on intercollegiate teams. Former IHSA (Intercollegiate Horse Show Association) Regional President, Selby is assisted by student officers who help run the team, and organize Middlebury's own Intercollegiate Horse shows held each year in October.
In intercollegiate competitions, riders must compete on unfamiliar horses drawn at random both on the flat and over fences, with little or no warm-up time. It can be quite exciting to see!
Competitions are held each fall and spring throughout the region which includes teams from Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Vermont and Canada.
The hunt seat team consists of riders from Walk-Trot through Open Flat and Fences (up to 3 feet). Acadia College, Bates College, Bowdoin College, Castleton State College, Colby-Sawyer College, Dartmouth College, Franklin Pierce College, Mt. Ida College, UMaine-Orono, the University of New Hampshire, the University of Vermont, and Middlebury College all compete in this region.
